Facilities and Equipment
MIS is equipped with facilities and equipment designed to enhance the learning environment and ensure up-to-date training in the latest maritime technology.










This building houses state-of-the-art equipment for practical deck and engine training. These include a three-ton Overhead Crane, Diesel Engine Generator, Centrifugal Pump, Crankshafts, Generator Cylinder Heads, Oil Purifier, Level Controller, Marine Refrigeration Trainer, and newly fabricated Accommodation Ladder
Courses conducted in Panday Pira I are Practical Deck Skills, Practical Engine Skills, Diesel Engine Generator and Overhauling, and Marine Refrigeration. It also houses two classrooms in conducting risk assessment class which helps trainees practice hazard identification and its mitigation before carrying out critical shipboard operations.











Constructed in 2011, this 525 square-meter facility is fitted with marine engine training equipment like the Sulzer Engine, Steam Power Plant with actual load simulation, Oily Water Separator, Turbocharger, Marine Refrigeration Trainer, Bunkering Facility and Lathe Machines. These equipment are used for trainings like Practical Engine Skills, Lathe Machine Operations, Oily Water & Waste Management, Marine Refrigeration and Bunkering Operation.
Occupying the second level of Panday Pira II are the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) training facilities which can fit ten (10) to twenty (20) trainees undergoing Electric Arc and Gas Welding Training. Adding to the Institute’s Welding Processes Training is the newly constructed facility for Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).









Named after one of the Institute’s founding companies, the MOL building houses thirteen (13) lecture classrooms complete with Bridge and Engine Room Simulators that trainees can maximize. It also has galley facilities, administration and training departments, Capilla De Stella Maris, and the Sumakwel Library.




This three-story structure named after one of the Institute’s founding companies houses all electrical training equipment like the Marine High Voltage, Motor Controller, Process Controller, Electro-pneumatics, Electro-hydraulics, Reefer Container Units, and Fire Detection Alarm System (FDAS). With today’s modernization and automatic ships, these facilities are used for demonstrating the safe handling and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.






This four-story dormitel building has eighty-five (85) rooms, including three (3) deluxe rooms, gym facilities, and an entertainment room to give seafarers and guests a comfortable and relaxing stay. It also houses the Institute Clinic, which can be found at the ground floor.
The Magsaysay Residence was inaugurated by the former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on August 30, 2006.
