About Magsaysay Institute of Shipping

Since its establishment in 1992, MIS has stayed true to its commitment to maritime excellence and quality education.

Magsaysay Institute of Shipping (MIS) was founded in 1992 by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd., Fairmont Shipping (H.K.) Ltd., and Magsaysay. The training facility, located in Dasmariňas City, Cavite, is envisioned to meet the growing demand for competent, disciplined and highly qualified deck and engine officers for the global seafaring labor force.

Today, MIS is continuously shaping the maritime industry and has produced professionals who are now Master Mariners and Chief Engineers onboard ships and shipping administrators ashore. The Institution has shifted to more comprehensive trainings by opening its services to government agencies, external clients from other training investors, the general public through TESDA programs, and to various initiatives and projects that support training innovations and the culture of continuous learning and collaborations.

With these developments and opportunities, MIS is transforming into an institution that will accommodate more trainees who will eventually become competent industry skilled workers for their respective organizations, firms, and businesses. The focus extends beyond sea-based jobs to include land-based roles around the world.
